News Letter April 2018

27 Apr 2018

Dear Parents and Carers

Please take a few minutes to read the lengthy newsletter.

Many thanks

Term ahead

It never fails to amaze me how quickly the summer term comes around. For a couple of days last week even the weather matched the title. There is a lot going on in school over the next few weeks so please take time to look at the calendar of events. Specific information will be distributed as appropriate.

Building update

Our new integrated learning space is progressing well and is on track to be completed ready for August 2018. Along with our recently refurbished P7 wing, the new space will accommodate P6 and P7 pupils next session. A meeting for current P5 and P6 parents and carers, to discuss how this will work, has been scheduled for 6.00pm on Wed 9th May in the school hall. I hope that as many of you as possible will be able to attend.

Happy Families – Maths at Work

The children are currently involved with a maths at work project based around the Happy Families series of books. As intimated before the holidays parents and carers are invited to come along to experience aspects of the learning on Tues 1st May at 8.50am and on Fri 4th May at 12.00noon.

On Fri 4th May we will be holding a special Happy Families Maths Assembly. Children are welcome to come to school dressed to represent a character from the Happy Families books – see below for the list of titles.

Please look out for your child’s second profile (P2 – P7) which you will receive through email. We are also trialling a new approach to sharing progress in Music and Technology and in PE. This will include a photograph ‘in action’ along with a comment from your child. As with other profiles this will be shared through email with a paper copy being stored in school in your child’s profile folder.

50th Birthday

As you know we started the school session with MADD about the 60s in recognition of this year being the 50th birthday of the school building. Classes are currently learning about 50 years of…. (please ask your child). They will be sharing their learning at our exhibition during the week of June 4th. The school birthday party will take place on Friday June 8th.

Whole school photo

It would be fabulous if we could manage 100% attendance on Wed May 16th so that everyone can be in our whole school photo. It is 25 years since a previous school photo was taken. The photo will be available to purchase.
