Dear Parents and Carers

I hope that the run up to Christmas is going well for you all.  Please see below for some school news.

The P1 Nativity took place on Monday and Tuesday of this week and it was great to see the hall full on all four occasions.  I hope that the move to both a morning and afternoon performance, on each day, allowed everyone who wanted, to come along.  The children sang beautifully and shared the Christmas story with great enthusiasm.

The response to our reverse advent calendar has been incredible.  The Donation Station has collected both money and chocolates each day and we are already at the amazing total of £604 and over 170 chocolates.  The station will remain open until Tues Dec 17th.

Our silent disco was an overwhelming success and, I hope, will now become an annual event.  It was such good fun with children and staff all wearing headphones and dancing around the playground and inside school.

Still to come :

Mon 16th Dec : P3 – P7 Christmas activity day : wear what you would like

Tues 17th Dec : P1 and P2 party : wear what you would like

Wed 18th Dec : Christmas Lunch day – Christmas jumpers etc encouraged

: 9.30am Christmas service at North Leith Parish Church : all welcome

Thurs 19th Dec : pyjamas and film day

Fri 20th Dec : non uniform day

12.00 noon : School closes for the Christmas holidays

Lost property

Once again we have a significant amount of lost property.  Please look through the lost property boxes at the front of the school and claim whatever you can use.  The boxes will be emptied at the end of term.

Sadly, Taylor Swift, one of our chickens, has passed away.  Lady Gaga and Beyonce are still doing well.  Many thanks to those families who continue to sign up and  look after the chickens at weekends and over holiday periods.

Health & Wellbeing at Trinity Primary

I recently shared with members of our Parent Council a new resource for the teaching of Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood.  This area is part of the Health & Wellbeing curriculum delivered in all schools.  Parents and carers can access the resource at

Date for your diary : An evening for parents and carers to share how, and what, we deliver for Health and Wellbeing at Trinity will take place on Wed 19th February at 6.30pm – 8.00pm.  Please note the evening is aimed at parents and carers.  (To allow parents and carers to attend, a film will be shown in a classroom, if required for childcare purposes.)

Nutty about Numbers

We will all be ‘Nutty about Numbers’ when we return after the holidays.   Please look out for our number facts and tables challenge and support your child to persevere and challenge themselves.

Parents and carers are invited to school on Mon 3rd Feb at 9.00am or Fri 7th Feb at 11.45am to share what the children have been learning.

I wish everyone in our school community a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2020.

Jacqueline Scott
