Trinity News : June 21st

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you had a good weekend.  The final week of the term has arrived and we are looking forward to our Picnic in the Playground,  Meet your Teacher, our virtual P7 show, the final of Trinity’s Got Talent, presenting yearbooks to P7, a P7 Pizza party, our end of year celebration assembly and the clapping out of our fabulous P7s.  It’s going to be a busy few days.  Whilst we would have loved to have been able to invite parents and carers to join us,  I am sure that the children will still have a fun and memorable end to what has been quite a school year.   Please look out for photos on Twitter at various points in the week.

Your child will come home today with a sheet showing their staff team for August as well as a note of the entrance and exit gate to be used.   We are really hoping that next year will see us back to being able to work both across stage and across the school.  This is something that we have all really missed and is particularly pertinent for our new P1,  P6 and P7 learners.   At the moment, however,  we are being advised that we will have to remain in class bubbles at the start of the session.  Staff organisation has been quite a challenge this year and we are still waiting to appoint a teacher for the P6 and P7 team who will be with us from August to October when Mrs Bertinhussen is due to return from  maternity leave.   Ms Aimi Armstrong will continue in her post as Acting DHT until then.

We will be saying goodbye to several members of the Trinity staff team.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their enthusiasm, hard work and commitment to our school and to wish them all the very best in the future.

Good luck to Ms Pauline Lewis (expecting a baby), Mr Patryk Lodykowski (beginning teacher training), Ms Shireen Sherazee and Ms Sam Bell (off to teach in Vietnam and Abu Dhabi) and to Ms Shannon McCaughey, Ms Anna Polson, Mr Paul Bruce and Ms Kirsty Trail (continuing their teaching careers at other Edinburgh schools).

We are also welcoming Ms Catherine Wilson, Ms Orla Campbell and Ms Germaine Fagan who will be starting their teaching careers at Trinity and Ms Ashley McKelvie, Ms Rachel Livesey and Ms Erin Smith who will be joining our PSA team.    It is fantastic to have Ms Carly Pattinson back with us after her maternity leave.  Ms Claire Campbell, Ms Katie Lamb and Ms Ewa Bryla are expected back at some point during the school year.  We are also very excited to have Ms Helen Woodruff return to Trinity early next year following her career break in Vietnam.    Whilst this is a significant amount of change I know that everyone has the best interests of our learners at heart and will continue to go above and beyond in all that they do.

Thank you to those of you who completed the survey re proposed school times (outwith COVID restrictions).  We will be looking at the results and making a decision taking into account the various points of view.  As I thought, a  quick glance certainly shows that we are not able to please everyone and compromise will have to happen.

We hope that as restrictions ease we will be able to review these arrangements.

As I finish writing this our first Picnic in the Playground is well underway and I am about to head to Wardie Bay with P7.  The thought of a bag of chips at lunchtime is definitely keeping me going!   Thank you for all of your support over this school year.  Your children are an absolute testament to the nurture, love and encouragement that you have given, and continue to give, them.  Despite over a year of COVID restrictions,  listening and watching them having fun shows how amazingly resilient they are.

I hope the week goes well for them all and we can all make it to Friday without anyone having to isolate!

Best wishes

Jacqueline Scott
