Trinity News: 4th April 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you are all well.   This week sees us into our final week of the Spring term.  In many ways time really does seem to fly:  April 2020 saw us learning from home,  April 2021 the return of all our learners following the second lockdown and April 2022 the welcoming back of our parents and carers into our building.  We are definitely going in the right direction.   The summer term will see school begin to return to pre Covid times but we are asked to still remain cautious.

  • The updated guidance for schools comes into effect for the summer term.  It is guidance and non statutory.

https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-on-reducing-the-risks-in-schools/

As always if your child is unwell, whatever it might be, please keep them at home until they are well enough to be back in school.  This keeps everyone safe from the spread of possible infections.

Times and Gates :

The decision has been made to keep our school times as they are for the rest of this school year.   They will change from August 2022.  Further information regarding this will be shared next term.

However for the summer term there will no longer be a requirement to line up outside the school gates.    Pupils can enter the playground using either the front or back gates.

The gates will open at 8.30am and will remain open.   Pupils in P5, P6 and P7 will enter and go straight to class.

Pupils in P1 – P4, accompanied by parents and carers, will be able to enter the playground and wait there until time to go to class – 8.45am for P3 and P4 and 9.00am for P1 and P2.

P3 and P4 : all pupils will enter school by the front doors from the front playground at 8.45am

P2 : wait in front playground and go to class at 9.00am

P1 : wait in back playground and go to class at 9.00am

End of school day :

2.55pm : P5 – P7 will be dismissed and can leave school playground using either front or back gates

3.00pm : no change.  P1 and P2 will dismissed from classrooms into front (P2) or back (P1) playgrounds.  Either gates can be used to enter or leave playground

3.10pm : P3 and P4 will be dismissed directly into the front playground.   It is the responsibility of parents and carers to ensure an adult is there to meet them.  Either gates can be used to enter or leave playground.

I hope that this all makes sense.

P4 – P7 parents and carers have now had the opportunity for a video or phone call with their child’s class teacher to chat about progress.   Some have commented that it is helpful for these to be online whereas others have said they much prefer face to face.  This is something we will be considering from August.   In the meantime, with adults now allowed back into the school building, we are unsure as to what format we will use for P1 – P3 next term.  Please look out for more details.

I hope that the last week of term goes well for everyone in our school community.  We are still experiencing significant staff absence and thank you for your continued support.   I am so looking forward to the summer term and, hopefully,  a further move towards school returning to ‘normal’.

Best wishes
