Dear Parents and Carers
I hope you are well. Please accept my apologies for the delay in sending out a Trinity News email. I’m sure many of you, like myself, cannot believe how quickly time passes. I had a fabulous week in Benmore Outdoor Centre with our P7s – watching them try everything that came their way, growing in confidence and being so supportive of others. They were a real credit to themselves, their families and our school and I hope that they made many happy memories.
Our MADD about Us topic culminated in a sharing event in the front playground. Despite rather chilly weather we were entertained by music and dance across the stages. Many thanks to those of you who were able to come along and join us.
Friday September 30th
This Friday you are invited to join us for our first ‘blether and a biscuit’ in the main hall from 9.00am. The ‘blether’ this time will be about equalities. We would love to hear your views and chat about what we can do as a school. Our pupil led equalities group will join us for this session. Please use the link below to let us know if you will be attending.
Friday September 30th will also see us raising money for Macmillan cancer support as we take part in their biggest coffee morning fundraising appeal. Parents and carers are welcome to make a donation at ‘blether and a biscuit’ or to purchase a coffee morning takeaway bag. These will be available in the front playground from 8.45am. Playing a part in supporting this charity is particularly poignant as we received the very sad news that one of our P6 parents passed away last week after an incredible fight against cancer. Our thoughts are with the family at this time.
Kitchen refurbishment
Unfortunately the works to refurbish our kitchen are still ongoing and it is looking increasingly likely that it will now be November before we are able to offer hot lunches. I am extremely disappointed with this and am in regular communication with the City of Edinburgh council. I can only continue to thank you for your patience.
Fruity Friday
Last week saw P1S being awarded the Fruity Friday trophy and fruit bowl. Each week our Rainbow classes survey how many children eat fruit or vegetables for snack on a Friday. The winning class then receive a bowl of fruit to be eaten throughout the week. If you would be interested in sponsoring the bowl at any point please do let me know. The cost is about £10.
Playtime toys
We are on the lookout for no longer used toy buggies / pushchairs, dolls, cars, scooters and plastic animals. If you are able to help with such items please hand them into the school office.

Jubilee celebration book
I hope that you have enjoyed reading the book published to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Given recent events the book is particularly pertinent. If, however, you do not wish to hold onto a copy or you have more than one and do not need the extra please do send any back into school as we have additional learners who have still to receive one. Thank you.
Profiles
This week will see the start of learning profiles being issued. These are written following discussion with learners and include quotes from them. Between now and the end of November a small group of children from each class will receive their profile weekly. Please do look out in school and book bags for your paper copy and return the feedback sheet once you have read it. This year we will be evaluating how we report on what is learned and the progress made and we look forward to hearing from parents and carers about this.
Additional public holiday in lieu of Mon 19th September
We are awaiting confirmation from CEC as to when this will take place. At the moment school will close for the October holiday week on Friday Oct 14th at 12.00noon.
The current date for children to return to school is Tuesday October 25th.
