Dear Parents and Carers
I hope that you had an enjoyable weekend – for those who support Scottish rugby what a game!
It has been great seeing so many of you at our House Coffee Mornings and Learning Chats. Feedback has been extremely positive with parents and carers commenting on how much they welcomed having the chance to chat with their child about what they are learning, seeing what they are achieving and hearing about Rainbow School. We will be holding our second parents/carers’ evening and afternoon on Thurs 9th March and Fri 10th March. Please look out for booking information later in the week.
Parking
Well done to our P4 learners who are taking action against illegal and unsafe stopping and parking on the zig zag lines outside school. If you do need to bring a vehicle to school please park where it is safe to do so.
Fruity Friday
We continue to encourage the eating of fruit and vegetables at all times but particularly on a Friday. The winning class each week receives the Fruity Friday fruit bowl for the following week. If you are willing to sponsor a bowl for a week please send £10 into the school office. Sponsorship is much appreciated.
Fundraising
Many thanks to everyone who bought their child’s Christmas card design. The amazing total of £1256 was raised for school funds.
Playground update
We are continuously looking at how to improve the playground experience. The role of our PSAs is to support play as opposed to supervision. To this end we have purchased and collected resources based on what our learners have asked for – skipping ropes, toy cars, building blocks, chalk, drawing materials etc. A recent survey of the children gives the playground an average 4 star out of 5 rating, 95% say they have friends to play with and 92% say that everyone is kind to each other. Whilst the results are good our aim is for a five star rating and 100%!
If you have any no longer used large paint brushes, roller trays and rollers please do hand in as ‘painting’ the playground with water is much enjoyed!
Staffing
Congratulations to Carly Pattinson on the birth of Polly. Both mum and daughter are doing well and we are looking forward to meeting them soon.
Amazing Asia
In the summer term our whole school focus will be looking at Amazing Asia! We are really keen for any input from members of our school community to help us to learn about and celebrate this fabulous continent – food, geography, languages, dance, music etc. If you have any suggestions or offers PLEASE do get in touch by emailing direct to
