Dear Parents and Carers
It is hard to believe that Sports Day is nearly upon us. Our theme this year is Amazing Asia with all children having the chance to try out six different events. It is very much a morning to have fun and to work together in mixed teams. A competitive athletics festival is organised for second level learners (P5 – P7) later in the month.
Please see below for Sports day information.
When and where is sports day?
Friday May 19th 2023 in Victoria Park
What time will it begin and end?
The aim is to start by 9.30am. It is likely to finish about 11.20am.
Will my children be in the same team?
Yes, the house teams are made up with siblings in the same team
What should my child wear?
Outdoor wear – wearing something in their own house colour is helpful.
Will they need a snack?
Only a labelled, filled water bottle should be brought. No other snack is needed as all the children will be given a piece of fruit.
Are parents and carers welcome to watch?
Absolutely, definitely a case of the more the merrier
Can I take my child home at the end?
Ensuring the safety of all our children is extremely important. At the end of sports day all children will return to their class teacher to be registered.
P1 – P4 children may be collected by parents and carers but MUST be signed out by their class teacher. We really do ask that no one takes their child without letting the teacher know.
Those in P5 – P7 who have signed permission will be able to be dismissed direct from the park. Please look out for a permission slip in school bags.
What happens if I am not able to collect my child from sports day?
There is no expectation that children go home direct from sports day. Children will return to their classrooms and be dismissed at the usual time of 12.00pm
Having experienced some very heavy rain today let’s keep our fingers crossed for a dry May 19th!
Best wishes
