Learning From Home – Day 3

Screen Shot 2020-03-25 at 19.33.12

Dear Parents and Carers

Day three of learning from home!  I hope that things are going well and that you are managing to find a wee bit of time for yourselves in amongst juggling your own work, supporting your children and other family members, cooking, cleaning, waiting for the internet to sort itself etc etc.  These are certainly unusual times and whilst we adjust to what is the new norm please do not expect too much of yourselves or of your children.  The best way for everyone to get through this is to congratulate ourselves on what we have achieved rather than worrying about what we haven’t.

As I said on Monday there is absolutely no expectation that all of the learning at home tasks are completed.    It can feel overwhelming and this is not a time to feel that you are not supporting your children.  Simply being there for them as much as you can and reassuring them that this is just a wee moment in their lives that they’ll be able to tell their children and grandchildren about is enough.

It’s been great to have acts of kindness shared.  Our online kindness wall will be on the website from tomorrow so do please encourage your children to let me know what they have been doing.

Some of you maybe aware that as of today certain schools have opened to provide childcare for children of key workers.  Whilst Trinity is NOT one of those schools, parents who fall into this category will receive an email / text from the City of Edinburgh to say what school their child has been allocated a place at. It is absolutely essential that parents carefully consider if they meet the criteria as the message clearly stated from government is for children and others to stay at home.  A flowchart showing who is eligible is available on the council website and will be available on our own school website.

Please stay healthy and we will see you soon.

Dear Parents / Carers

Please can you share the following with your children

Thanks

Hello Trinity Learners

Sorry I’ve not been in touch since Monday.  I’ve been very busy doing my own learning at home trying to understand how to use teams on 365, how to upload a video (still working on that one) and how to make soup from a bizarre range of ingredients.

I am so impressed with what you have been sharing with your teachers.  Some of you are certainly keeping them very busy.  I have however heard that there are already some of you giving up on keeping fit with Joe Wicks whilst some staff have got very sore muscles.

As I said at the beginning of the week  please remember that you learn in lots of different ways.  Try hard to do some of your learning that your  teachers have prepared for you but also use all the different websites and podcasts and TV programmes out there.  There is some really fab stuff to watch and learn from.

As you know this week we are focussing on our school value of kindness and it’s been great to get messages and photos telling me about Trinity learners making breakfast,  feeding the cat (Bonnie), reading to younger brothers and sisters, teaching their family how to play swingball etc.  Look out for our online kindness wall on our website from tomorrow.

Drop me an email at Jacqueline.scott@trinity-pri.edin.sch.uk if you get a chance.

See you soon

Learning at Home – Learners

Dear Parents / Carers

Please can you share the following with your children

Thanks

Hello Trinity Learners

I hope you all had a good weekend and were up and ready for ‘school’ today.   I know that some of you started the day with a workout with Joe Wicks or playing frisbee in the garden.  Well done.  Please remember that you learn in lots of different ways.  Don’t worry if you haven’t yet managed to start your learning at home tasks or haven’t yet been in touch with your teacher.  They’ll be there every day, Monday to Friday, if you want to send them a message about what you’re up to.

This week we are focusing on our school value of kindness.  Being kind to your family and helping them out is also very important learning so perhaps you could wash the dishes, learn how to hoover or even clean the bathroom!  Or perhaps you could play a game with your brother or sister or read them a story.  You can email me and let me know what kind things you are doing and I’ll add them to our online kindness wall.

See you soon

Mrs Scott

Learning at Home – Parents and Carers

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope that you are all well and able to approach this time in our lives with optimism and a sense that together we will get through this.  As day one of learning from home begins please remember to be kind to yourselves and to each other.  There is absolutely no expectation that everything is completed and we are very aware that everyone’s circumstances are different.  Remember that a large part of school, and of work, is social interaction and to an extent distraction, and without either of these, some set tasks may be completed quickly.  Playing a game, reading a book, baking etc are all equally important learning opportunities.

I have been overwhelmed by the amazing effort that the Trinity staff have put into preparing learning from home and making themselves available for our Trinity learners.  Many of them are also juggling home commitments, childcare, health concerns etc and yet are still committed to providing the best they can in the circumstances we’re in.  If you have any complaints I ask that these are emailed direct to myself and not to staff – thank you.

Please look out for an email to share with your children.  This week we will be focussing on our value of kindness and I would be delighted to receive emails telling me about acts of kindness that our children have done.  Our foyer slideshow is also available on our school website.

As I continue to say, this will pass, and we will physically be back in our school. In the meantime we are, and always will be, there for everyone in our Trinity community.

Please stay healthy and we will see you soon.

Edinburgh Learns Guidance for Parents – WEB VERSION

P1 Update

Dear P1 Parents and Carers

You maybe aware that Ms Pattinson was absent from school today.  I wanted to reassure that she is absent because she is pregnant (such fabulous news) and not because she is symptomatic for COVID – 19.   However, as I am sure you will understand and following national advice, Miss Pattinson will be working from home for the foreseeable future.  The pupils in P1P will be taught  by Mr Blaikie, Ms Sherazee and Ms Brown.  With a significant number of pupils being absent the ratio of child to teacher remains within government guidelines.

I am sure you will be as delighted as we are with Ms Pattinson’s news and wish her all the very best for a ‘calm’ pregnancy!

Thank you for your support
