Supporting literacy tasks

Mrs Davies Spelling - Edinburgh Sound Chart - YouTube

Hello, the weeks seem to be flying by at the moment and home schooling the ‘norm’! I have received some absolutely fantastic writing from pupils over the last 2 months. To keep the momentum going I have uploaded previous suggestions about phonics and spelling and new tips for writing to assist with tasks.

You may find some or all of the suggestions below helpful for your child.

Useful literacy based websites:

  1. https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk

2. http://www.doorwayonline.org.uk

3. https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/find-out-more/parents/

4. http://www.oxfordowl.co.uk

For older pupils the PDF below gives suggestions to help with Vocabulary; Sentence Openers; Connecting Words and Punctuation. At school your child may have used the acronym – VCOP!

Please get in touch if you wish to discuss any of these teaching ideas further at: kirsten.jackson@trinity-pri.edin.sch.uk

Maths Today

In Maths today we will be revising the written method of multiplication. First, read through the teaching slides. Then choose a task to do. If you are stuck, Miss Campbell’s teaching video might help.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_wnNmM71pA

Have a great day!

The Demon Headmaster (Demon Headmaster 1): Amazon.co.uk: Cross ...

Hi Primary 5, I hope you had a lovely long weekend. This is the last short week for a while. The task is slightly different this week as it is reading with comprehension and some writing. Take a look at the reading and comprehension tasks today and I will add the writing instructions tomorrow. Again, you have all week to complete this.

Remember, the main aim of this exercise is not punctuation, spelling or presentation, it is your understanding of the story. Good luck and I look forward to hearing from you.
