Trinity News: 26th August 2025
Active and Healthy
The week at Trinity certainly started with a hop, skip and a jump for some of our classes as they enjoyed skipping workshops. Over the course of the week all Trinity learners will have the chance to learn skipping skills whilst having great fun. If your child has caught the skipping ‘bug’, skipping ropes are available to purchase. Please pay through Parentpay or by handing cash (£5) into the school office. School will also be purchasing some ropes for use in the playground.
Snacks
We regularly talk with our learners about healthy eating and ask for parents and carer support in not sending in sweets, chocolate, large bags of crisps etc for snack time. Last year P3 learners moved us from Fruity Friday to Wellbeing Wednesday with a class each week chosen to have the Wellbeing Wednesday bowl delivered to their class. The bowl is made up of a range of healthy snacks to encourage good choices. No fizzy drinks are allowed in school.
Our Playground Our playground provides another area in which our learners learn. PSAs play an essential role in
- supporting positive play
- allowing learners to take calculated risks, within a safe environment
- helping them to learn essential skills – integrity, initiative, communication, collaboration, leading and feeling.
It is a busy environment and our learners are regularly reminded and expected to Be Kind and to Show Respect. Many of our Trinity Learners are already highly skilled in these two areas but, as with all learning, some require support!
Our learners are able to move freely around the different areas of the playground, exploring and playing across stages. Our simple rule of ‘Don’t Climb a Tree until you’re Primary Three’ is known and understood by learners. The painted lines provide a limit to how high learners can go. Our library phone box – lead by Library Leaders – support learners to choose and read books over breaktimes. Our Gardening group – lead by Katie Lamb – look after the plants. Ball games are limited to the ‘cage’ and Erin Smith, one of our PSAs, organises a mini football league. When weather permits use is made of the back grass area. This year we are looking to introduce our ‘Ready to Listen’ seats in the glass entrance space. These seats lead by Ready to Listen leaders will provide a drop in space for those who would like a chat.
A survey carried out last term showed that 97% enjoyed being outside in the playground most or all of the time – a very positive response! We are in the process of actioning suggestions to make improvements eg a quiet area, more playground toys, drawing space etc.
Reminder again that bikes and scooters must be pushed across the playground for the safety of everyone.
Attendance – every School Day Counts
We cannot highlight the impact that attendance has on attainment. We regularly have a number of requests for school holiday in term time. These holidays are recorded as unauthorised unless under exceptional circumstances.
While we understand that there are times when children do need to be absent from school, your support in ensuring your child attends regularly and on time helps us to make the most of the opportunities on offer and continue to progress and learn.
Meet the Teacher : Thursday Aug 28th from 5.45pm to 6.45pm
Please do come along on Thursday evening to see your child’s learning environment and to meet their teacher. This is an informal opportunity to pop in and introduce yourselves and to hear about some of what will be happening in the year ahead.
Thank you for all your support . As we prepare for the visit from the inspection team I am reminded of how dedicated our staff team are, how supportive our parent and carer body is and, most importantly, how proud I am of our Trinity Learners. They are an absolute credit to yourselves and to us. A real team effort!

Dear Parents and Carers
I hope you had a good weekend and the start to this week has gone well.
Please find below the first calendar of Trinity Primary school events for the year ahead. Paper copies will also be available at our Meet the Teacher evening. As I am sure you will understand it is sometime necessary to change dates and we will update across the year.
Wellbeing Wednesday
Last year our P3 learners moved Fruity Friday to become Wellbeing Wednesday! We encourage and ask for your support in ensuring healthy snacks.
Well-being Wednesday
Is it working? By Jessica, Grace, Joshua, Archie, Maya, Blake and Kayden formerly P3G
We have found that each week the results of our survey show that the same classes keep winning.
This is great for them however we want to encourage other people who are not eating fruit etc to eat healthier.
So, we have created a random spinning wheel with all the classes at Trinity on it. The year group in charge of Rainbow school would use the link to spin the wheel each week.
They would then announce the winner at Trinity Together who would get the bowl of healthy snacks delivered to them to try
When every class has had a turn, it would start again.
Skipping workshop
Next week we are looking forward to all of our learners being involved in skipping workshops. Such input at Trinity several years ago proved to be extremely popular and great fun. We are very grateful to a donation made to school which means there will be no charge to parents and carers for the workshops. Please see below for further information.
Information from Skipping Workshops Ltd The team coach will work with groups of children throughout the day, introducing a variety of skipping skills, catering for all children throughout all classes. Ropes will be provided for the workshops but if you wish to purchase some for your child they can be bought for £5.00 each. Please order through Parentpay or pay cash at the school office. For parents who are interested in exercising with their children, or who simply want some useful exercise themselves, special adult ropes are available at a cost of £6.00 each. The ropes are made to a high standard, are light and easy to use and allow children and adults to progress rapidly with their new skills.
Phones and other devices
We would prefer that phones and other devices, including smart watches, are not brought / worn to school. However we are aware of the fact that many parents and carers wish their child to have access to such devices for safety before and after school hours. Whilst in school all phones, smart watches etc must be switched off and, in the case of phones, kept in school bags. Please note that school cannot take responsibility for the safe keeping of such items. We regularly talk with our learners about the safe and responsible use of social media, the internet etc and ask that parents and carers also do this. Information about internet safety can be found on our school website.
Bikes and Scooters
Cycling, scootering and walking to school are very much encouraged. Our simple rule, to keep everyone safe, is that bikes and scooters are pushed when in the playground. Electric scooters are not allowed. Please do make sure your child has a lock to secure their bike or scooter to the bike racks.

Trinity News 19th June 2025
Dear Parents and Carers
What a fabulous day we had yesterday at Aberdour. The weather ended up being perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed watching our Trinity learners dig holes, paddle in the sea, find crabs and have a great time together The Trinity community accounted for over 600 bodies on the beach and, I am really pleased to say, left no mess behind. Thank you so much to all the parents and carers who came along to help.
Trinity is on a roll!
I am so proud of what Trinity has achieved over the past few weeks.
- Rights Respecting Schools Gold Award
- Digital Schools Award
- Winners at a STEM event at Heriot Watt University : STEMovators
- Winners of two prizes from a Poppy Scotland art competition
- Highly commended feedback from Dyslexia Scotland and MSPs following a presentation at the Scottish Parliament
- Winners of a Minecraft competition at the National Museum of Scotland
All of these show the range of skills and talents our learners have and are testament to all of their hard work (and that of the staff). A HUGE well done to everyone.
End of term celebration
If you are able please do come along to Bangholm on Wed June 25th to share our end of term celebration – athletics medals, friendship and community awards, P7 yearbooks, our new house captains and the winning house! We hope to start about 9.20am and finish by 10.30am.
P7 parents and carers are invited back to school afterwards for refreshments.
Trinity’s Got Talent
Our House Captains have done a great job of auditioning and planning for Trinity’s Got Talent. Finalists have been notified and their parents and carers are very welcome to join us on Thursday June 26th. This is always a great way to end the school year.
School year 2025 – 2026
Classes have now been rearranged and nearly all learners have had the chance to meet with their new class and teacher. We are hoping to be able to share specific classes for our new P2s by the end of this week. Thank you for your understanding with this. As always happens at this time of year we will be saying goodbye to some Trinity staff who will be moving on. We wish Penny Brown every success in Dubai and look forward to her returning to Trinity after teaching there and wish Jasmine Whelan, Claire Birnie and Marika Komori all the very best in their careers.
