Edinburgh Learns General Home Learning Grids
Stuck at home
While you are unable to be at school please find some activities that you can be working on at home. These can be printed off or can be completed in your child’s Homelearning jotter.
Literacy
Initial sounds and tricky words
Use your child’s initial sound cards to practise the sounds at home. Children should be able to name the sounds and then can begin to build words with the sounds.
Practise reading and writing the tricky words from the ‘Block 1’ Humpty wall.
Reading
If your child has a school reading book at home they can practise reading this. Reading for enjoyment should also be encouraged by reading lots of picture books at home. Activity suggestions below can be completed for any book.

Writing
Use the letter formation sheet in your child’s Homelearning jotter to practise forming letters correctly.
Use the document below to help with ideas for emergent writing.
Numeracy
Playing lots of number games will help your child to develop their number skills. You could play board games like Snakes and Ladders and Ludo or use online games or apps.
