P3 Show: Pirates Versus Mermaids

Pirates Versus Mermaids School Musical | Out of the Ark

Dear P3F Parents and Carers

As I am sure you are aware P3 are busy rehearsing their P3 show Pirates V Mermaids.   In  normal circumstances you would be invited indoors, and in the warm, to watch the performance.  However as we are still working under COVID restrictions indoors is not possible so we have moved outdoors.  The show must go on! You are very welcome to come along to the front playground on Tues Dec 14th at 9.15am.  Please do dress warmly as it is December!  The show will be standing only.

In line with COVID guidance everyone attending is asked to wear a face covering, unless exempt, and to stand 2m distanced from other households.  Please complete the form below to allow us to have an indication of numbers.

To keep costume simple all the children have been supplied with a large T shirt which they will be welcome to keep as a souvenir.  If you are in a position to pay £2 to cover the cost this would be much appreciated.  Money can be sent in as cash or paid on parentpay.

I look forward to seeing those of you able to come along.

Best wishes

P5 Christmas Market

Dear P5 Parents and Carers

Over the last few weeks our P5 learners have been involved in an enterprise project.  They have done an amazing job of researching and producing Christmas gifts which are now ready to be sold!

With restrictions still in place we are, unfortunately,  unable to invite parents and carers into the building.  However in true Christmas market tradition we have moved outside!  On Thurs Dec 9th from 2.00pm to 2.40pm the P5 Christmas market will be open to P5 parents and carers and we would be delighted to see you there.  To ensure that everyone is kept safe please note the following :

  • Entrance will be through the back gate into Victoria Park
  • Please maintain 2m distance whilst lining up to enter
  • In the playground we ask that face coverings be worn (unless exempt)
  • We also ask that you remain at a 2m distance from other households

Unfortunately our P5 retailers are unable to accept card payments so cash will be required!

We look forward to welcoming you to the back playground on Thursday.   If unable to attend we are hoping to provide an online shopping experience for any items not sold on the day.

Thank you for your support

Christmas Service: Friday December 10th

CHRISTMAS SERVICE — Broadway Church

Dear P7 Parents and Carers

It is quite unbelievable to think that we are now heading to our second Christmas where we are unable to come together in North Leith Parish Church for our Christmas service.  This year we are however able to hold events outside, so long as we follow clear guidance.

We would be delighted if P7 parents and carers were able to come along at 9.15am on Fri Dec 10th to join us in the front playground for our outdoor service.  Anyone attending will have to wear a face covering and households must stand 2m apart from other households.  The event will be standing only and could be cold so please do dress up warmly.

After the service there will be the opportunity to enjoy a hot drink and a mince pie.

To allow us to plan for numbers attending please complete the form by clicking on the link below.

Whilst we are ever hopeful that this will be able to go ahead I am sure you will understand that if guidance changes the service may have to be cancelled.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing as many of you as can manage on Fri 10th Dec (warmly dressed!)

Best wishes

Dear Parents and Carers

Apologies for the delay in sending out our Christmas activities calendar.  Please find dates below along with information about what is planned.  A paper copy of the calendar will be issued to every child to help everyone keep up to speed with what’s on and what’s needed.  If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact school.

In line with COVID guidance the children will be spending considerable amounts of time outside, or in school with windows and doors open, so please do make sure they are warmly dressed!

Tis the season to be jolly!

The following currently sits within COVID guidance.  However please do remember that we may have to alter if necessary.

Mon 29th Nov : Watch ‘The Snowman’ in preparation for house art

Tues 30th Nov : Christmas jumpers etc are welcome to be worn from now on.

House art day – all the children will be involved in doing art to represent ‘The Snawman’ a Scots version of ‘The Snowman’ by Raymond Briggs

Wed Dec 1st  : the following begin from the 1st

Trees will go up in foyer and outside front door.

Reverse advent calendar : children are welcome to bring in money donations instead of sending cards to each other.  House Captains will select a charity.

Santa fitness challenge : classes will be given a fitness challenge to complete.  Once completed they will add a piece of Santa to our large jigsaw

You’ve been Snowball Splattered!  : each class is tasked with secretly ‘snowball splattering’ another class.

Snowman cutout photo : watch out for some amusing photos of children as they stick their head through the snowman face.

Thurs 2nd Dec : Christmas Star Time : whole school

This year we have planned a variety of activities using mainly recycled materials and limited plastic.

Week of 6th Dec : Silent Disco :  whole school

Each stage has been allocated a slot as below

Mon : P2 and P5       Tues P1, P3 and P4           Thurs : P6 and P7

Mon 6th and Tues 7th Dec : Story in secret garden for P1 and P2

We are hoping Mrs Claus and elves will be in the garden to read a Christmas story to P1 and P2.    Toasted marshmallows will be on offer!

Wed Dec 8th : Pantomime and Christmas Lunch : whole school

The plan is to make the day a ‘trip to the theatre and out for lunch’ so dressing up is welcomed!   A fair bit of poetic licence is required I know!   Elves will deliver an ice lolly to each child at the end of their pantomime ‘trip’.

If you have not ordered a school Christmas lunch please remember to send in a packed lunch with your child.

Thurs 9th Dec : Party and Activity day for P6 and P7 (dress for a party but please remember there will be time outside playing!)

Fri 10th Dec : Outdoor Christmas Service : whole school

Our plan is to hold our Christmas service in the playground.  Warm clothes will be needed!   In line with current guidance we are delighted that we will be able to invite P7 parents and carers to attend if they wish to do so.  I really do appreciate that many others would also love to come along but we have to limit numbers and have made the decision to invite P7 families as this is their last year at Trinity.  P7 parents and carers please look out for further info.

Mon 13th : Party and Activity day for P2 (dress for a party but please remember there will be time outside playing!)

P3 pupils will also be presenting their outdoor show ‘Mermaids V Pirates’ to parents and carers of P3J

P3 parents and carers please look out for further info.

Tues 14th  : Party and Activity day for P1 and P5 (dress for a party but please remember there will be time outside playing!)

P3 pupils will also be presenting their outdoor show ‘Mermaids V Pirates’ to parents and carers of P3F and P3K

P3 parents and carers please look out for further info.

P1 Nativity (online) will be shared with parents and carers – watch out for a link to this

Wed 15th  : Party and Activity day for P4 and P3 (dress for a party but please remember there will be time outside playing!)

Thurs 16th : Come dressed in PJs for ‘PJs and Film’ day  : whole school

Playground chalk art – classes will have the chance to take part in street art as they decorate our playground with Christmas art

Fri 17th : School closes for Christmas holidays.

With COVID restrictions still in place finish times will be as follows

11.30am : P5, P6 and P7       11.45am  P3 and P4       12.00 P1 and P2

We are ever hopeful that all of the above will be able to happen.  Our main aim is to keep everyone safe and school open.

Please support us with the following :

  • Ensure your child is on time and at the correct gate
  • Do not enter the playground unless collecting from P1 or P2.  Wear face coverings unless exempt
  • If your child has symptoms of COVID, keep them at home and book a test immediately
  • Make sure your child is dressed warmly – windows and doors are open and children are often outside

Thank you so much for your ongoing understanding and patience.  The last 20 months has certainly come with challenges for us all but we continue to be in this together and we will get through it together.  Seeing our learners in school laughing, learning and having fun shows how well we have all done and continue to do.

Here’s to a Festive few weeks ahead!

Best wishes

Trinity News: November 17th

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you are all well.  I would like to thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we continue to manage COVID infections and restrictions.  We are all very aware of how long it has been since we were able to welcome parents and carers into school – in fact for some families it is possible you have never actually been into the building that you send your child to each day.    We are desperate to open our doors again but in the meantime I hope you feel confident that we are doing all we can to ensure all our learners make progress and enjoy being at school.

We are in the process of organising Christmas@Trinity.  For those of you familiar with us you will know that we try to include something for everyone and make the month of December a special one.  Our view is you are only young once!   Please look out for the Christmas activities calendar on Friday.

To get ahead of things the following information is worth noting:

  • From Nov 30th (house Christmas Art Day) Christmas jumpers are actively encouraged.  If your child has one and wants to wear it each day they are very welcome to do so.  Our sustainability group are keen to organise a ‘recycle your Christmas jumper’ event.  If you have any Christmas jumpers / T shirts no longer required please do send them into school as soon as possible.
  • Christmas Star Time will take place on Thurs Dec 2nd.  This year we are aiming to use as many natural and recycled materials as possible.  The following items would be much appreciated – please send into school anytime from now:
    • Wool
    • Old clean white socks – any size
    • Material scraps
    • Buttons
    • Pine cones
  • To reduce paper / card use we ask that children do not bring in Christmas cards to distribute to friends but instead make a donation towards our reverse advent calendar – instead of getting something out / we put something in!  More info will follow
  • Christmas ‘picnic’ lunch : school Christmas lunch will take place on Wed 8th Dec.  Orders must be made on parentpay by Mon 29th Nov.  As with last year lunch will be provided in a Christmas box and will be eaten in classrooms.

Security

It is helpful to everyone if your child arrives at school at the correct time:

8.30am for P5, P6 and P7             8.45am for P3 and P4                     9.00am for P1 and P2

If you are late and no staff member is present at the back gate, children must be brought to the front gate on Newhaven Road and a phone call made to the school office.    For the security of everyone children should not be let into the back playground.  Once the P1 doors are closed the staff do not always realise that a child is outside.

Aug 2022

Enrolment for starting school in Aug 2022 is now open.   This has to be completed online.  If you have a child born between 1 March 2017 and 28 Feb 2018 please complete the form or get in touch with the school office if you require any assistance.

And finally a huge thank you to those families who came along to our playground tidy.  It was so lovely to actually see and chat with members of our school community.   What a difference they made!  The chicken house and rabbit hutch are now all prepared and ready for our new additions.  We will be welcoming them in January.

Best wishes

Recently, we published evidence that cells use the chloride from salt to fight viral infections. Also, nasal irrigation with salt water helped reduce the cold in adults. Hence, we are now testing if salt water nose drops helps children fight the cold.

If you have a child under 7 years of age, you may be able to join the fight.

The Children’s Hospital in Edinburgh are doing a study of salt water nose drops to see if it helps get rid of the cold faster.

Your child does not need to have a cold right now to take part!

You can join right now by calling/texting 07973657457 for an appointment to sign up and to be taught what to do the next time your child has a cold.

Your child does not need to attend.

Families completing the study will receive travel expenses and a £30 voucher to compensate for any inconvenience.

Lifelong Learning Parent and Carer Support are delighted to launch our new Support for Families information pages on the Council website at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/supportforfamilies

We have transferred information on activities, groups, programmes and supports available for families which we previously listed in our booklets/ leaflets to this online version. Information is listed by theme and we hope this will make it much easier for parents and professionals to find support when it is needed.
