I hope you are well and that for those of our learners who ‘celebrated’ Halloween the weekend went well. Many thanks for supporting the TPSA sponsored discos held on Friday.
I am delighted to let you know that, following our inspection by HMiE in September, our report has now been published. Please do take time to read it via the link below. There are three aspects to the report:
Report – limited information
Summarised inspection findings – much more detailed and informative
Additional Inspection Evidence – survey results.
Evaluations are provided on a 6 point scale and we are so proud to have achieved 5s (very good) for both of the quality indicators inspected – Learning, Teaching and Assessment and Raising Attainment and Achievement. These scores are hard to achieve and it has therefore been very heartening to have them validated by HMiE. Achieving 5s is down to an amazing team of staff, parents, carers and, most importantly, Trinity Learners who regularly go above and beyond in all that they do and who, together, make our school the great place it is. A huge thank you to everyone in our Trinity community.
It is hard to believe that we are at the time in the year already where we start the process of enrolling for the next school year. We are looking forward to welcoming new and established Trinity parents, carers and learners to school tomorrow.
Welcome back to term two of the school year. I hope that the first few days have gone well and everyone is feeling ready for the weeks ahead. As always there is a lot going on so please do take time to read through the dates below.
Happy Diwali
A very belated Happy Diwali to all our families who enjoyed celebrating at the beginning of the week. Our P7 Equalities and Diversity leadership group will be sharing learning about Diwali at Trinity Together tomorrow. With the theme of Shine Bright all Trinity learners are very welcome to wear bright colours to school.
Profiles
This term sees the first written learning profile being issued. Please look out in school bags. The profile is written with learners and gives them an opportunity to chat with their teacher about what they enjoy, how they learn and what their next steps are. Please do take time to complete and return the feedback sheet. Alongside the profile you will receive an update of your child’s attendance. Being at school on time, everyday has a positive impact on your child’s progress and we ask for parent and carer support in ensuring this.
Show Racism the Red Card
Our P6 learners will be sharing activities with classes to support Show Racism the Red Card. On Thursday 30th October all learners are welcome to wear RED to school.
Scottish Book Week – Mon 17th Nov to Fri 21st Nov
P4 – P7 Parents and Carers are welcome to pop in at the start of the school day on Wed 19th November to enjoy a hot drink whilst reading with their child. P1 – P3 Parents and Carers please look out for separate information for a book event – same date and time.
Trinity Primary School Calendar (term two): please note that dates may be subject to change and events will be added. Further information will be shared for specific events.

Welcome back!
P4 are Rainbow School
Please note that there will be no charge for Christmas events (apart from the P7 visit to Winter Wonderland) thanks to financial support from the TPSA. They do an amazing job of raising funds for our school and I am extremely grateful to them. Please look out for information about the sponsored Halloween disco and help them to raise further funds.
Our Oscars ceremony was a great success and Oscar statues can now be found proudly displayed in classrooms. Many thanks to everyone for all their work in supporting our learners to produce animations, sound scores, costume designs, art, props, dances and songs. The red carpet was well worn!
Rainbow school
It was lovely to see a rainbow of colours at Trinity Together on Friday. Over the week learners were reminded about our Rainbow colour commitments (see below) and our theme for this year of Take Action. At some point across the school year all stages will take on the specific responsibilities of Rainbow School, starting with P6 from Mon 22nd Sept. Our P7 learners will oversee Rainbow school with each of them being part of a leadership group teaching other classes and organising whole school events. Having briefly met on Friday I was so impressed with their ideas for how and what they can lead.
Our Rainbow commitments are :
Red – Equalities and Diversity
Orange – Outdoor Learning
Yellow – Leaders of Learning
Green – Sustainability
Blue – Global Citizens
Indigo – Health & Wellbeing
Violet – Trinity Together
National Fitness Day – Wednesday Sept 24th
This week we will be taking action for Health & Wellbeing by celebrating National Fitness day. Everyone is encouraged to wear sports clothing to school and to be ready to take part in a fitness challenge. We are delighted to be welcoming Jonny Paterson, a Scottish paralympian who has captained the Scotland Paralympic football team. Thank you to Ms Marshall and to the TPSA for organising and funding this event.
Progressive Masculinity : Learning Community priority
An email was issued yesterday providing more detailed information about this.
Parents and carers of P7 are invited to a session at 6.30pm on Wed 8th October. Tickets are available through Eventbrite
We are in the process of appointing a new PSA. The PSA role is key in any school and we are very fortunate at Trinity to have a dedicated team who go above and beyond when supporting our learners, particularly those with additional support needs. They are an invaluable part of the Trinity team.
Having worked full time for over 40 years I have made the decision to reduce my hours. My working week will be Tuesday to Friday. I have every confidence that Ms Cheryl Berthinussen, interim Acting HT on a Monday, and Ms Aimi McIntosh will ensure the smooth running of our school in my absence.

Jacqueline Scott MBE | Head Teacher | Trinity Primary School
The Inspection team left our school today having thoroughly enjoyed sharing the Trinity experience. They spoke so highly of our learners, of our whole community and of the lovely ethos of our school. I felt incredibly proud. Thank you so much to over 100 parents and carers who took time to complete the survey and to write such positive comments. The full report will be available in a few weeks time.
MADD about Film
Our MADD theme will be celebrated on Friday September 12th with our Oscars ceremony! Everyone is invited to come dressed for a ‘black tie’ affair – the fancier the better!
Unfortunately we are unable to invite parents and carers as there is limited space in our hall. We had hoped to use Bangholm but this is fully booked. Please do get in touch if your child needs a bit of help with something to wear. We have feather boas and glittery waistcoats available!
I am now looking forward to heading off to Benmore to spend the rest of the week with our P7s. They are having a great time kayaking, gorge walking and caving amongst other things.
Best wishes
Jacqueline Scott MBE | Head Teacher | Trinity Primary School
