There is no disputing the fact that some families, for various reasons, are facing financial hardship at the moment. As you know Christmas@Trinity in school activities will be free of charge for all Trinity learners. We are also aware however that some Trinity families may find it helpful to receive a Christmas food parcel containing basic food items plus some Christmas extras. Our family support worker, Sandra Brown, has suggested some names for us already but we believe there may be more families who could do with a bit of a help at this time of year.
Acts of Kindness are being shared by our Trinity Learners at the moment and helping those who belong to our Trinity community is an act of kindness we can extend.
If you would find a Christmas food parcel helpful please do let us know either by phoning Sandra Brown on 07746 895595 or emailing Sandra or school direct on the email addresses below :
Please see below for Christmas@Trinity information. A copy is also attached as I know some families find it helpful to print and put ‘up on the fridge’.
With the festive season fast approaching I am very aware that financial circumstances can make this a stressful time for families. We are very grateful to the Trinity PSA who have agreed to fund all in school Christmas activities to make it a ‘free Christmas@Trinity’ for everyone.
Whilst we hope that everything will be lots of fun some of our learners can find the change from routine to be unsettling. Staff are preparing for this and will adapt and support as required.
Christmas jumpers etc are welcome to be worn from the 30th.
Please do not feel under pressure for your child to wear one every day, to have more than one, to wear one at all! P6 will be holding a Christmas jumper swap / donation table on Fri Dec 1st. Donations are very welcome.
Reverse advent calendar – this year we are supporting Project Pants and asking for donations of new pants (or socks – adult or children) to support a clothing bank run by Edinburgh City Mission. Cash donations are also very welcome – P7 will use any money donated to purchase pants.

School closes at 12.00noon for the holidays
I really do hope that we are able to make December in school an enjoyable, memorable and fun time for all our learners.
Please see below links to employment opportunities currently being advertised by the City of Edinburgh. The posts are for Pupil Support Assistants in primary, secondary and special schools across the city. This is an absolutely essential post in all schools and, I hope, a rewarding one. We have a fabulous PSA team at Trinity who work tirelessly to support our learners in a range of ways. We could not manage without them!
If you are interested in such a post then please do consider applying. Further information can be found once the link is opened but please note the closing date for applications is 28th Nov 2023:
I hope you had a good, if somewhat wet, weekend. Whilst we went ahead with our playground tidy yesterday I did get the feeling that many, who might normally have helped, thought it had been cancelled. We had a select group of 5 staff, one parent and two P7 learners! As the rain poured perseverance certainly prevailed. We are hoping to have our Outdoor Library space ready to ‘open’ during Book Week (week of Nov 13th)
Digital Safety
I am aware that our Parent Council are currently carrying out a survey with parents and carers regarding the use of smart phones. It is definitely a case of varying points of view and ultimately parent / carer choice. However we have had requests for guidance on ensuring safe use and hope that, in the meantime, the following links from our Digital team at CEC will be useful.
We are looking to add a digital tab to our school website where further info can be posted.
Halloween Disco
Everyone appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves on Friday morning dancing to some great song requests. The assortment of costumes was fabulous. If you have not yet had a chance to do so the TPSA would be delighted for sponsorship to raise funds for school.
This week will see us focussing on the Learning Power : Have a Go Hamster. Please take a minute to ask your child what this means to them. Our learning powers are a fun way of teaching our learners ways to tackle their learning.
Thurs Nov 2nd : Open Day for P1 due to start in August 2024
Fri Nov 3rd : Trinity Together will see P6 sharing with us information about Action for Climate Change
Profiles
This term all our learners will have another opportunity to talk to their class teacher about their learning. This conversation forms part of the profile which will be issued at some point over the term. We have made a few alterations to the format of the profile in response to comments from parents, carers and staff. A feedback sheet will accompany your child’s profile so please do take time to let us know your views.
National Gallery opportunity

Family Fridays
New at the National! Every Friday afternoon during Edinburgh term time we’ve got trails, play activities and, of course, hands-on art making with artists. All free, all welcome. Just drop in.
For more information please check out the National Galleries website
The weather for the next few days looks like it will continue to be wet. Getting outdoors is so important for our learners so please do make sure they come dressed for the weather.
Thank you for your continued support,
Jacqueline Scott | Head Teacher | Trinity Primary School
I hope that you had an enjoyable October week. It has been great to see our Trinity learners back in school this week. There is definitely an Autumnal feel to the weather so please do make sure your child comes to school with an outdoor named jacket. As the saying goes ‘there is no such thing as bad weather only the wrong clothing’. Being outdoors is so beneficial to wellbeing and we seldom have indoor breaktimes at Trinity. Our learners also spend time in the secret garden and, hopefully soon, in our outdoor library during the school week.
Halloween
Our sponsored Halloween disco will take place in school on Friday Oct 27th. Everyone is very welcome to dress up (please avoid anything too scary!). Many thanks to the TPSA who have organised the gofundme link to allow funds to be raised for school. Please see the link below if you would like to sponsor your child to dance!
Our rescheduled playground tidy will take place from 9.30am – 12.30pm on Sunday Oct 29th. Here’s hoping the weather is kinder to us this time. All offers of help are much appreciated so please do come along, bringing with you any gardening tools, brushes etc that can be used.
Christmas Cards
You should have received the sample of your child’s Christmas card in school bags today. The closing date for orders will be Mon Nov 13th. All the information required to make an order is attached to the sample card. Many thanks in advance for your support with this. All funds raised go towards supporting out of school visits and additional resources for all our learners.
World Children’s Day – Mon Nov 20th
The theme for this year’s UNICEF World Children’s Day is Investing in the Future. The day provides another opportunity for children to understand their rights and to have their voices heard. We will be holding a peaceful protest at 1.30pm in Victoria Park in support of Climate Change Action. Our plan is to come together as a school with banners and placards and walk round the ‘doughnut’. Our protest will end with us singing What A Wonderful World. Parents and carers are very welcome to join us.
Brew and Blether
Many thanks to those of you who were able to come along on Fri 6th Oct. I was so proud of our House Captains who shared what it has meant for them to be a Trinity Learner. We asked those present for their views on our values and our aims and whether these were still relevant.
Last plea to parents and carers about bringing in a costume to donate to this year’s Halloween Costume Swap. Tomorrow morning is the last chance to bring something in so your child can then choose something new from the swap tomorrow (Tuesday 10th October).
Many thanks to all the parents and carers who have already brought something in!
