Dear Parents and Carers
As we reach the end of term one I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support and for the fabulous Trinity learners who come to our school every day. I have said before that one thing about working in a school is no day is ever the same and children can always make you smile. This week has seen me playing a great game of tig with some P7s and and being shown a very ‘bendy’ finger by one of our P5s. Watching the girls laugh so much with each other as they showed me made my day.
Fruity Friday
Thanks to P6 who have been gathering data for Fruity Friday and well done to P1J who won the fruit bowl this week. Ideally we would love our learners to eat fruit every day but small steps make a difference. Eating fruit for snack on a Friday is very much encouraged. If you are in a position to sponsor the purchasing of fruit for the winning class, donations of £10 are much appreciated. Please hand to the school office.
Trinity Live Aid
Our very much enjoyed Trinity Live Aid raised the fabulous total of £425.17 for Save the Children. Many thanks.
Building update
We are, fingers crossed, finally seeing the light shining brightly at the end of the tunnel. Work has progressed well this week with toilets reinstated, roof made watertight, flooring laid. If all goes to plan we should have the building handed back to us on Friday 1st Nov. For those in P2J and P2B further information will be issued during the week beginning Oct 28th. To everyone involved in getting things moving again a heartfelt thanks. We cannot wait to have back P2 classrooms, our staff room, learner toilets, janitor and cleaning spaces, admin offices, staff toillets, resource room and areas of the playground.
The kitchen will however remain closed. It is hoped that works will commence in January with an end date of June 2025. Hot lunches will continue to be cooked off site and delivered to school.
Christmas / Festive Cards fundraiser
Your child’s card design will be in school bags today. Online ordering is now open with a closing date of 30th Oct. Whilst this is an opportunity to raise funds for school (we are planning on purchasing seating for outdoors) please do not feel under any obligation to purchase items. Your support is much appreciated.
Restart a heart
Yesterday our P7s took part in the Restart a Heart campaign where they learnt how to do CPR. Watching them making their own videos explaining what to do was an excellent way of the displaying the many skills they have. Whilst I hope none of them ever have to carry out CPR it was certainly a very worthwhile learning opportunity.
Staffing
We are delighted to have Louise Gillies join the Trinity team as our new Business Manager. Louise is an already very established and well respected Business Manager in another Edinburgh school and I know she will be a great asset to Trinity.
We are saying goodbye to David, our crossing patrol guide (lollipop man) directly outside our school on Newhaven Road. We wish him well in his new post. If you would be interested in taking on this job please do look out for vacancies on myjobscotland or pop into school to chat to us. In the meantime we will be without support so please be aware of this.
Trinity Chickens
Our Trinity chickens are very settled in Egginburgh Castle. Following a vote they have now been named and names shared with our Trinity learners. Have a go at unravelling from the letters below :
kippraa
redlnvae
nnncioma
mysrraeo
and now check with your child if you’re right!
Term two
School returns on Tues Oct 22nd for all learners
Fri Oct 25th : Halloween sponsored disco. Dressing up is very welcome but please avoid anything too scary!
I hope the October week holiday goes well for you all.
Best wishes
Jacqueline Scott
