Please see below links to employment opportunities currently being advertised by the City of Edinburgh. The posts are for Pupil Support Assistants in primary, secondary and special schools across the city. This is an absolutely essential post in all schools and, I hope, a rewarding one. We have a fabulous PSA team at Trinity who work tirelessly to support our learners in a range of ways. We could not manage without them!
If you are interested in such a post then please do consider applying. Further information can be found once the link is opened but please note the closing date for applications is 28th Nov 2023:
I hope you had a good, if somewhat wet, weekend. Whilst we went ahead with our playground tidy yesterday I did get the feeling that many, who might normally have helped, thought it had been cancelled. We had a select group of 5 staff, one parent and two P7 learners! As the rain poured perseverance certainly prevailed. We are hoping to have our Outdoor Library space ready to ‘open’ during Book Week (week of Nov 13th)
Digital Safety
I am aware that our Parent Council are currently carrying out a survey with parents and carers regarding the use of smart phones. It is definitely a case of varying points of view and ultimately parent / carer choice. However we have had requests for guidance on ensuring safe use and hope that, in the meantime, the following links from our Digital team at CEC will be useful.
We are looking to add a digital tab to our school website where further info can be posted.
Halloween Disco
Everyone appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves on Friday morning dancing to some great song requests. The assortment of costumes was fabulous. If you have not yet had a chance to do so the TPSA would be delighted for sponsorship to raise funds for school.
This week will see us focussing on the Learning Power : Have a Go Hamster. Please take a minute to ask your child what this means to them. Our learning powers are a fun way of teaching our learners ways to tackle their learning.
Thurs Nov 2nd : Open Day for P1 due to start in August 2024
Fri Nov 3rd : Trinity Together will see P6 sharing with us information about Action for Climate Change
Profiles
This term all our learners will have another opportunity to talk to their class teacher about their learning. This conversation forms part of the profile which will be issued at some point over the term. We have made a few alterations to the format of the profile in response to comments from parents, carers and staff. A feedback sheet will accompany your child’s profile so please do take time to let us know your views.

For more information please check out the National Galleries website
The weather for the next few days looks like it will continue to be wet. Getting outdoors is so important for our learners so please do make sure they come dressed for the weather.
Thank you for your continued support,
Jacqueline Scott | Head Teacher | Trinity Primary School
I hope that you had an enjoyable October week. It has been great to see our Trinity learners back in school this week. There is definitely an Autumnal feel to the weather so please do make sure your child comes to school with an outdoor named jacket. As the saying goes ‘there is no such thing as bad weather only the wrong clothing’. Being outdoors is so beneficial to wellbeing and we seldom have indoor breaktimes at Trinity. Our learners also spend time in the secret garden and, hopefully soon, in our outdoor library during the school week.
Halloween
Our sponsored Halloween disco will take place in school on Friday Oct 27th. Everyone is very welcome to dress up (please avoid anything too scary!). Many thanks to the TPSA who have organised the gofundme link to allow funds to be raised for school. Please see the link below if you would like to sponsor your child to dance!
Our rescheduled playground tidy will take place from 9.30am – 12.30pm on Sunday Oct 29th. Here’s hoping the weather is kinder to us this time. All offers of help are much appreciated so please do come along, bringing with you any gardening tools, brushes etc that can be used.
Christmas Cards
You should have received the sample of your child’s Christmas card in school bags today. The closing date for orders will be Mon Nov 13th. All the information required to make an order is attached to the sample card. Many thanks in advance for your support with this. All funds raised go towards supporting out of school visits and additional resources for all our learners.
World Children’s Day – Mon Nov 20th
The theme for this year’s UNICEF World Children’s Day is Investing in the Future. The day provides another opportunity for children to understand their rights and to have their voices heard. We will be holding a peaceful protest at 1.30pm in Victoria Park in support of Climate Change Action. Our plan is to come together as a school with banners and placards and walk round the ‘doughnut’. Our protest will end with us singing What A Wonderful World. Parents and carers are very welcome to join us.
Brew and Blether
Many thanks to those of you who were able to come along on Fri 6th Oct. I was so proud of our House Captains who shared what it has meant for them to be a Trinity Learner. We asked those present for their views on our values and our aims and whether these were still relevant.
Last plea to parents and carers about bringing in a costume to donate to this year’s Halloween Costume Swap. Tomorrow morning is the last chance to bring something in so your child can then choose something new from the swap tomorrow (Tuesday 10th October).
Many thanks to all the parents and carers who have already brought something in!
At the current time the planned Industrial Action is set to go ahead. This will mean that schools will be closed to learners on Tues 26th, Wed 27th and Thurs 28th Sept. Learning grids will be issued today on various platforms so do check school bags, our school website and TEAMS. If you experience any difficulties please contact school. A daily check in on TEAMS will take place at staggered times to hopefully allow siblings to ‘attend’ even if sharing a device.

Community Secret Garden tidy – Sunday October 8th from 9.30am
All offers of help from 9.30am on Sun 8th Oct will be much appreciated. There are various jobs needing tackled to get the garden ready for winter – weeding, pruning, cleaning of chicken house, clearing of pond etc etc. Definitely a case of many hands will make light work so thank you in advance.
Flu Vaccination
New date : Wed Dec 13th
Playground behaviour
Your children may have mentioned that I have spoken to all classes regarding behaviours that we are seeing regularly in our playground. The level of ‘play’ fighting and rough play is concerning along with the use of inappropriate language, dropping of litter and lack of respect towards adults and each other. This is particularly evident during football where the decision has been made to suspend the current in school league. I have explained to our learners that the only behaviour they can control is their own and they must think carefully before getting caught up with others. It is appreciated if the same message is repeated at home. On a much more positive note our secret playground patrollers reported seeing people being asked to join in, showing others how to play games, picking up litter, laughing and having fun – just what we all want!
Thank you for your support

Jacqueline Scott | Head Teacher | Trinity Primary School
First and foremost please accept my apologies if you were at all disappointed at our MADD event this morning. We are so grateful for the incredible turnout of support and certainly did not mean to cause anyone any upset. Making the decision to move to Trinity Academy was made with the best of intentions – I had however underestimated the numbers of parents and carers who would be joining us. I hope that asking P1 and P2 parents and carers to leave after seeing their child then allowed others to come in to see theirs. As we always say to our learners, we are learning all the time and can always make things better. I will take this on board! Thanks also to Trinity Academy for accommodating us at the last moment.
I enjoyed a fabulous time at Benmore Outdoor Centre with P7 last week. The weather certainly helped but the highlight for me was how true to our values the P7s were. Not only did they persevere trying out, what was for many, new and challenging activities, they also showed themselves to be kind and respectful to each other and to the staff. Creativity was also evident particularly during Hunt the Teacher when some staff managed to hide so well they couldn’t be found! We are already booked to return in September 2024 for our current P6s to have the opportunity for a residential experience (aka School Camp!)
The same week saw P6 enjoy an extended outdoor education experience at Bonaly Scout Camp setting off at 9.00am and returning at 9.00pm. Feedback has been really positive so we are planning to include such a day into our Trinity Opportunities journey. Please see the attached poster if you are unsure what this is.
Many thanks to yourselves for supporting such experiences and to staff for going above and beyond to ensure they happen.
Building update including lunches
We are still awaiting further information as to when works will commence on the roof areas affected by RAAC. In the meantime P6 continue to enjoy the Lodge classrooms and our kitchen staff are managing to provide a hot meal. Please be aware that the hot meal service is restricted at times due to food having to be cooked off site and transported to school. This might mean a slight change to what is offered on Parentpay.
SHREK Jan 2024
Thank you to those who have paid the ticket price (£20) on Parentpay. This will be the total cost for the visit as the TPSA have kindly agreed to pay for the coach transport. If you do not wish your child to attend the theatre please do let us know as we currently have tickets for all Trinity learners and do not want tickets to be wasted.
Please see below for a list of dates for the year ahead. Hopefully having these in advance will help a bit with planning. Further detail will be issued as required, as will communication of additional events and experiences as they arise eg we are waiting for the dates for Scottish Opera for our P5s.
Thank you for your support.
