Trinity News: 1st September 2023

Dear Parents and Carers

What a lovely day for the 1st of September.  Long may this weather continue particularly for P6 and P7 who are off on outdoor adventures to Bonaly Outdoor Centre and Benmore next week. We wish them all a fabulous time.

It was great to see so many of you at our Meet the Teacher open evening last night.  I hope you found it useful.  For those of you unable to attend, the powerpoints explaining the year ahead will be on the school website by the end of next week.

If you have a minute please do complete the form below to give us some feedback.

At Trinity Together today we talked about the United Nations Rights of the Child.  We are hoping to be awarded our silver Rights Respecting Schools award in the not too distant future.  Please take a minute to ask your child what they know about these rights and what they mean.  You may want to watch the following youtube clips:

Our House Captains have taken to their responsibilities well and, I hope, showed themselves to be polite and helpful last night.  They will be sharing what it means to be a Trinity Learner and asking for your views on our values, aims and opportunities at our first Brew & Blether on Fri 29th Sept at 9.00am.  Keep a look out for more information.

PSAs

We are indebted to our PSA team who provide support for our learners.  The City of Edinburgh is currently recruiting for PSAs across the city. If you would be interested in such a post please apply using the link below.  The advert closes on Wed 6th September.

Building update

As you are aware we are one of the schools currently affected by RAAC (reinforced concrete).  Whilst it is not ideal our P6 learning spaces in the Lodge are of a high quality and we have been able to reinstate hot food.  Many thanks go to everyone involved for their hard work, flexibility and support.

The following update is from City of Edinburgh.

The design process for replacement of the roof in the closed area of the school has continued over the summer and the latest estimated procurement and delivery programme suggests the works on site would begin early in 2024.  This could be subject to change as further work is progressed on the design and delivery options.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best wishes

Free School Meal Entitlements

Dear Parents and Carers

There is no doubt that families are finding things tough at the moment as the cost of living increases.   With school meals now free for all P1 – P5 children we have seen a decrease in the number of families applying for ‘free school meal’ entitlement.    Please find attached a poster outlining what other supports you are eligible for  when entitled to free meals.  Sandra Brown, our family worker, is avavilable on a Wednesday to help with apllications.  As well as wanting to ensure that families receive what they are entitled to, the school also benefits financially when families are in receipt of free school meal entitlement.

Please do get in touch if you like further information.

Best wishes
