Trinity News: 18th December 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

As we reach the end of another term I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to parents, carers, staff and our fabulous Trinity learners for the creativity, perseverance, respect and kindness that we see in our school community on a daily basis.  Whilst things are not always perfect and we continue to face challenges, the general ethos of our school embraces our values and I hope our learners are thriving in an inclusive and welcoming environment.   To those families leaving Trinity we wish you all the best for the future.

Christmas at Trinity

December has been full of fun activities enjoyed by all.  Thank you again to the TPSA who paid for events meaning a cost free Trinity Christmas. The only activity with any cost to families was the P7 visit to Winter Wonderland where their £6.50 wristband gave them unlimited access to all the fair rides at the west end.   With an average cost of £6 per ride this was great value.   Our P7s were an absolute credit to our school and families and  I so enjoyed watching the smiles on their faces and hearing the laughter as they enjoyed the fun with all their friends.

The silent disco was another big hit as was Star Time, Christmas lunch and the Santa Fun Run.  Today seeing a plethora of pyjamas, onesies, and squishmallow pillows means we have just one more sleep to the holidays.   We end the term with a Trinity Together singalong for all learners tomorrow morning.

Christmas fundraising

Thank you to everyone who purchased items.  School received the fabulous total of £1326 for school funds.

Reverse advent calendar

We have received many donations of underwear and chocolates for Project Pants.  Thank you for your generosity.  Ms McLeister will deliver all of the items to the charity in time for Christmas.

P7 enterprise project

Yesterday saw the dining hall abuzz with excitement as our P7 ‘businesses’ sold their handmade goods.  Each business applied for a loan, presented a business plan, made their product and sold it.   All of the businesses were in the financial position of being able to repay their loans and all have made a profit.   Definitely some very astute entrepreneurs amongst our learners!

Music opportunities

The following music opportunities have been brought to my attention

Young Musician’s pass – free tickets to Edinburgh International Festival Concerts.   Sign up at eif.co.uk/ympass

Brass Blast – provides exciting, accessible experiences of learning an instrument and playing in a band.  Search OiMusica

I often reflect on how lucky I am to have the privilege of being HeadTeacher at Trinity and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy festive season with family and friends.  Here’s to a 2026 filled with fun, laughter and love.

Merry Christmas

Jacqueline Scott

Trinity News: 4th December 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you are all well.  This time of year certainly sees a rise in the number of absences we are experiencing!  The festive season got off to a great start at Trinity with our house art morning and Christmas lights switch on last Thursday.  Many thanks to the TPSA for organising this event.  If you have still to collect your raffle prize please do pop in to the school office.

Reading Schools

We are delighted to have been awarded Reading Schools accreditation and to have won £400 to spend on new books.  Particular thanks to Mrs Jackson and Ms McKay for leading on this.  Our reading loyalty scheme is now up and running and last week P3M won the book corner competition run by Ms Docherty and P6D.

Out of school visits

We are always looking to provide opportunities and widen our learners’ experiences by both inviting in speakers and taking our learners out of school.  Last week P2 had a very memorable time visiting the fire museum in MacDonald Road, P5 were at Dynamic Earth and P7 are heading into Princes Street to experience Winter Wonderland (at a much reduced rate!)   Whilst we try to keep costs to a minimum and always operate a pay what you can afford approach, we do ask that everyone makes some payment.  Without any payment learners are unable to attend as payment also acts as permission.

Performance opportunities

Across the school year all stages will have the chance to share their learning ‘on stage’.    P2 started the year with Germ Busters and this week P3 put on a magical performance of The Tin Forest.  February will see P1 take to the stage, March for P4, April for P6 and P7 and May for P5!  Further details will follow nearer the time.    Last year we made the decision to move away from a traditional P1 Nativity for a variety of reasons.  The Christmas story will however be shared at our end of term Trinity Together on Wed Dec 10th at 1.30pm in Bangholm.  All are very welcome to attend.

Birthdays

This year our House Captains have introduced birthday postcards with all Trinity learners receiving one.   Whilst it is very kind of some parents and carers to donate sweet treats on their child’s birthday for everyone in the class,  we ask that this does not happen.   We have several learners with food allergies and intolerances and some who are not to eat sugary snacks.   Any items sent in will be returned.   Thank you for your understanding with this.

Reverse Advent Calendar

Our December birthday elves visit classes each day to collect any donations of pants (or other underwear items) and Christmas sweets.   Thank you to those who have already supported our reverse advent calendar.  All donations, both for adults and children, are much appreciated.

Christmas ‘Jumper’ swap

Thanks to P5 for organising the swap on Monday.   it is lovely to see those who want to, wearing their Christmas clothing items.   We still have items available, particularly in small sizes, if your child is looking for something.

I hope the final two weeks of the term are a happy and fun time for all our Trinity Learners.

Best wishes

Jacqueline Scott

Trinity News : 21st November 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope your week is going well.  It was great to see those of you who were able to attend, at our reading events yesterday.  To celebrate Scottish Book Week Trinity Together tomorrow will see all learners reading with each other and making bookmarks. We have also launched a reading loyalty card with six books being read earning house pennies.  Please do encourage your child to read whether it be comics, factual books, picture books, recipes, stories etc.   All forms of reading are equally important.

Sportshall Athletics

Well done to a group of our P7 athletes who took second place in the Sportshall Athletics event on Monday. They are now waiting to find out if their scores have earned them a place in the final.  (A great week for Scottish sport overall!)

Winter Windows

We are delighted that two of our Trinity learners, Frances and Esme from P7, are winners in the Winter Windows competition run by the City of Edinburgh.  Their winning designs will be displayed along the top path of Princes Street gardens so please do look out for them.

Flu vaccination

This week saw flu vaccinations happening in school with over 500 of our learners receiving a ‘scoosh’ to protect them against flu in the coming months.

We operate a Christmas clothing donations table so please do send in any Christmas items that your child no longer wears to allow them to be recycled.
