Trinity News: 17th August 2026

Dear Trinity Learners, Parents and Carers

I hope that the start to the new school year is going well for everyone.  It is always exciting to look ahead and see what learning opportunities are planned – June 2027 will be here before we know it!

I wanted to share with you all that I have made the decision to retire on Friday February 12th 2027.  I’m sure this won’t come as that big a surprise as speculation has been around for a while.  I always promised myself that I would retire whilst still loving the job, which I do,  and still, I hope, giving 100% to it.  I have had the absolute privilege of being HeadTeacher at Trinity Primary since April 2003 and our school has been an extremely important part of my life and that of my family.  Whilst I really do have mixed feelings about leaving I know that this is absolutely the right time to do it and am very excited about the next stage of life.   Trinity is an incredible school thanks to the amazing staff, the hugely supportive school community and our fabulous Trinity learners.  I do not doubt that whoever is fortunate enough to be appointed its new HeadTeacher will continue to take our school from strength to strength.  I have been informed from City of Edinburgh that the recruitment process is likely to begin towards the end of the year.    Jayne Galinsky and Ollie Woodruff, co chairs of our Parent Council, will be part of this process.

In the meantime I intend making the most of the next months – doing all the parts of the job that are the most fulfilling and which make the biggest difference to our learners.   Heading off to Benmore with P7 on Monday Aug 31st will certainly be a part of that.

I look forward to seeing you at our Meet the Teacher evening on Wed 26th August from 5.45pm (Wed 19th Aug for P3S).

With very best wishes and thanks

Jacqueline Scott
